Foundation Initiates New Trades Scholarship
February 18, 2024

The Three Lakes Community Foundation (TLCF) invites seniors at Three Lakes High School to apply for the newly created $1,000 Building Our Community Scholarship for students pursuing a career in the trades.
“The Three Lakes Area, like most of the Northwoods, is experiencing a shortage in skilled labor, like builders, electricians, plumbers, and contractors of all kids,” notes TLCF Chairperson Janele DuPuis.
TLCF board member John Stauner agrees, “The future of Three Lakes depends on a strong and vibrant community. The trades are a vital part of that economy, and supporting education in the trades helps us build a diverse workforce for the future.”
The $1,000 Building Our Community Scholarship will be the second one the TLCF offers. Beginning in 2017, the organization introduced the Rising Star Scholarship, which honors a senior committed to community volunteerism.
“We feel the scholarships align with the foundation’s mission to support and strengthen our community,” says DuPuis.
Stauner concurs with DuPuis, noting that “the foundation exists to support opportunities that make Three Lakes a better place for the next generations to come. This scholarship opportunity builds on the education of our youth who ARE the future.”
